About the Platform & Technology
Section titled “About the Platform & Technology”What happens to my tokens if Aktionariat shuts down?
The share tokens are issued on the Ethereum network using a widely used technical standard called ERC-20. This means they exist independently of Aktionariat AG and its systems.
If Aktionariat AG were to go bankrupt, only our platforms and interfaces — such as the Aktionariat Portfolio App, Issuer Portal, or Investor Page — would no longer be available. The tokens themselves would still exist and remain in the wallets of their holders.
Token holders would still be able to store their tokens, transfer them to others, and exercise the rights connected to their shares.
Because we use open and widely adopted technology, these tokens can also be integrated with other platforms or marketplaces. This approach ensures that companies and investors are not dependent on Aktionariat alone, which is an important principle behind how we build our solutions.
Is the platform self-custodial, or does Aktionariat hold tokens on users' behalf?
The platform is self-custodial. Aktionariat does not hold or control tokens on behalf of users. Tokenized shares are issued directly to the investor’s own blockchain wallet, meaning the investor retains full control over their assets at all times. Aktionariat does not have access to private keys and cannot move or manage tokens for users. This approach ensures that ownership remains transparent and verifiable on-chain, while investors maintain custody of their tokens just like any other blockchain asset.
What wallets are supported for holding tokenized shares?
Aktionariat tokenized shares are issued on Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon. This means that any wallet that supports these networks can technically hold the tokens. However, wallet providers sometimes decide which tokens are displayed or supported within their apps. In some cases, the token may be successfully stored in your wallet but not visible in the wallet interface because the provider has not added support for displaying it.
For the best experience, we recommend using the Aktionariat Portfolio App, which is specifically designed to support and display tokenized shares issued through the Aktionariat platform. This ensures that your holdings are clearly visible and that you can easily manage your investments.
Wallet & Security
Section titled “Wallet & Security”What happens to my wallet if I switch to a new phone?
Your wallet is not stored on your phone — it belongs to you alone and can always be recovered, as long as you have your 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase (also called Seed Phrase).
Back up your recovery phrase now Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the only backup you have when switching devices. Write it down on durable paper with a waterproof pen and store it somewhere safe — never digitally.
Depending on your situation, here is how to proceed:
I have my Secret Recovery Phrase
Import your wallet directly on the new phone by selecting “Import wallet” during setup and entering your 12 words. Your full wallet history and holdings will be restored.
I no longer have my phrase but still have access to my old phone
Open the Aktionariat app on your old phone, navigate to the wallet settings, and retrieve your Secret Recovery Phrase from there. Then use it to import your wallet on the new device.
I have lost both my phrase and access to my old phone
A separate account recovery process is available. Contact Aktionariat support to initiate it.
Investing & Trading
Section titled “Investing & Trading”How can I buy shares in a tokenized company listed on Aktionariat?
Aktionariat is not an exchange, so companies are not listed on Aktionariat itself. Instead, companies that tokenize their shares create and operate their own share markets and define the rules for how trading works. Aktionariat does not act as an intermediary. We simply provide the software solution that enables companies to issue, manage, and facilitate the trading of tokenized shares.
Each company decides when to open or close its share market based on its own strategy. Aktionariat has no control over these decisions. If the share market is open, investors can buy or sell shares directly through the company’s Investor Page.
Is there a secondary market where I can sell my shares after buying them?
Yes. Aktionariat provides a solution that enables companies with tokenized shares to offer secondary trading to their investors.
Through Aktionariat’s technology, companies can set up their own secondary market where shareholders can buy and sell tokenized shares directly with each other. This trading typically takes place through the company’s Investor Page or a dedicated trading interface.
However, each company decides whether and when secondary trading is available, as well as the specific rules for its share market. Aktionariat provides the underlying infrastructure but does not operate the market itself or act as an intermediary in trades.
If secondary trading is enabled, investors can place buy or sell orders and trade shares with other investors according to the company’s defined market setup.
What currencies or payment methods are accepted (CHF, crypto, etc.)?
Shares can typically be purchased either via bank transfer (CHF) or using the stablecoin Frankencoin (ZCHF)
A stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency designed to maintain a stable value. Frankencoin is pegged 1:1 to the Swiss franc (CHF), meaning 1 ZCHF is intended to equal 1 CHF.
If you purchase shares through secondary trading, payments are currently made exclusively in ZCHF (Frankencoin).
What are Sponsored Transactions?
The Sponsored Transaction feature allows certain transactions to be executed for free using the Aktionariat App.
When using Sponsored Transactions, Aktionariat pays for the execution cost of the transaction by forwarding your transaction to the blockchain.
To make this work, your wallet is upgraded to a Smart Account that can execute transactions by using your offchain signature.
Beta: Sponsored Transactions are currently in beta.
Legal & Compliance
Section titled “Legal & Compliance”Is tokenized equity legally equivalent to traditional equity in Switzerland?
Yes — tokenized equity can be legally equivalent to traditional equity in Switzerland when it is structured according to Swiss law.
With the introduction of the Swiss DLT Act, companies can issue ledger-based securities (Registerwertrechte). This allows shares to be represented digitally on a blockchain while maintaining the same legal rights and obligations as traditional shares.
Tokenized shares can grant shareholders the same rights as conventional equity, including:
- Ownership rights
- Voting rights
- Dividend rights
- Transferability
The main difference lies in how ownership is recorded and transferred. Instead of a traditional share register, ownership is recorded on a blockchain-based register that fulfills the legal requirements under Swiss law.
In this structure, the token represents the share, while the underlying shareholder rights remain the same as with traditional equity.
Are tokenized shares available to non-Swiss residents and international investors?
The public offer to purchase the shares is exclusively addressed to persons domiciled or resident in Switzerland or the EEA. Persons from other countries are expressly excluded and it is prohibited to distribute this offer in any way in such countries. The offer for persons from the EEA is limited to a total of €100,000.
