What Happens to My Wallet If I Switch to a New Phone?

Your wallet is not stored on your phone — it lives on the blockchain and belongs to you alone. Switching to a new phone will not affect your funds, as long as you can prove ownership of the wallet.

The key to doing that is your Secret Recovery Phrase (also called Seed Phrase) — 12 words that were generated when you first set up your wallet.

Back up your recovery phrase before switching

Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the only way to move your wallet to a new device. Write it down on durable paper with a waterproof pen and store it somewhere safe — never digitally, never online. See How to Set Up Your Wallet for backup instructions.

I have my Secret Recovery Phrase

You can import your wallet directly on the new phone.

Follow the steps in How to Import an Account and select Import Secret Recovery Phrase during setup. Enter your 12 words and your full wallet — including history and holdings — will be restored.

I don’t have my phrase, but I still have my old phone

You can retrieve your Secret Recovery Phrase from the app before switching.

1. Open the Aktionariat Portfolio App on your old phone
2. Go to Wallet Settings
3. Tap Backup Address → Reveal Seed Phrase
4. Write down the 12 words securely

Once you have the phrase, follow the steps in How to Import an Account to set up your wallet on the new device.

I have lost both my phrase and access to my old phone

If you no longer have your Secret Recovery Phrase and cannot access your old phone, a separate recovery process is available for your tokenized shares.

This recovery process applies to tokenized shares only. ETH and other assets in the wallet cannot be recovered without the Secret Recovery Phrase.
